What are MVP International Trips all about?

An international tour with MVP is much more than just a hockey trip, it is an opportunity to represent North America overseas. More importantly, it is an opportunity to connect with the world at large through a shared common passion, ice hockey. You will meet and interact with players from the host teams both on and off the ice... giving you the chance to see the world through their eyes, understand how they live, and create international friendships. For some it may open your eyes, for some it may bring a new friend into your life, and for others - it may be the next stepping stone in your hockey career.

All of this while being led by a team of professionals on a 'handled for you', family-oriented, cultural vacation.

Meet Our Talented 2020 Coaching Staff…

Emily Janiga

Coach Janiga played Division I hockey for Mercyhurst University and served as the team captain during her junior and senior year. For the Mercyhurst Lakers, she registered a career total of 72 goals and 79 assists. Her contributions helped the team to 4 regular season championships, 2 league playoff championships, 3 NCAA final eight tournament appearances and 2 trips to the Frozen Four. After graduating Mercyhurst with Bachelor of Science in Sportsmedicine, she started her professional hockey career with the Buffalo Beauts of the NWHL in 2016-2017. In her 2017-2018 season she moved to the CWHL to join the Vanke Rays in Shenzhen, China. Emily returned to the Buffalo Beauts for the 2018- 2019 season. Emily is currently a member of the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) and will represent the Buffalo region for the 2019-2020 season.

Aside from her playing career, Coach Janiga has been involved in coaching at various levels for the last 3 years and is currently the head coach for the Niagara Junior Purple Eagles girls 19U.

Olivia Zafuto

Coach Zafuto, a standout at the blue line for Colgate University, became the program's leading defensive scorer by 33 goals and 71 assists for 104 points in her 151 career games played. A 2019 graduate of Colgate, Zafuto ranked third nationally in points by all defenders in her last two seasons with the program and was named to the 2018 NCAA All-Tournament Team for her performance in the team's Frozen Four run. In her senior year at Colgate University, Coach Zafuto was drafted by The Buffalo Beauts of the NWHL as the 18th overall pick and was one of five players the Beauts drafted over two days. Like most draft-eligible girls, Zafuto was watching the draft unfold on Twitter. But it was a message from Colgate coach Greg Fargo that told Olivia it was for real.

Prior to Colgate, Coach Zafuto honed her skills with the Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles and at Nichols (Class of 2015)

Zafuto also participated in the 2018 Women's National Festival.

Pat Wildman

Coach Wildman was a standout defenseman for Dartmouth College. Prior to Dartmouth, he played at the Rivers School where he was league MVP and a Hockey Night in Boston All-Star and All-Scholastic player. Coach Wildman has more than 20 years of coaching experience, including both men’s and women’s teams and hockey camps, and is a certified USA Hockey Level 5 coach, the highest coaching level in the United States. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Reston Raiders Hockey Club where he has coached at every age level, from learn-to-play to 18U. Coach Wildman serves as the Chair of the Club’s Hockey Development Board, which is responsible for directing the on-ice program for the Club’s 48 travel and house teams and the learn-to-play program. In addition, he is the Director of Coach Education, leading on and off ice clinics for the Club’s 245 coaches as well as overseeing compliance with all USA Hockey coaching requirements. He has three daughters, Caroline (21), Lily (18) and Josie (13). His daughter Lily played Tier 1 U19 hockey for the Washington Pride and currently is a first-year player at St. Lawrence University. Professionally, Coach Wildman is Vice President of Government Relations for the Lupus Foundation of America in Washington, DC.
